Art-is not only the game of imagination or pleasant pastime but it is first of all the act of art for creating of which three components are needed — individuality, nature and tradition. These components dominate in the art of well-known Kharkiv artist Eugene Segal — intelligent, changeable artist who isn't tired of cognition of the world and to find his place there every time.
Performing a service in the army, Eugene Segal even there had found an opportunity to do his favourite business. So seventy two picturesque portraits of Heroes of USSR, participants of military actions of World War II in 1941-1945 and also a lot of monumental canvas are devoted to military battles during World War II one of which - «Kursk Arch» - impressed many people not only with its size (500x200 cm) but also with colourful and subject decision.

In 1997 the first exhibition of the artist in DAIS Gallery took place. Eugene Segal showed paintings from «Stones» series. There was shown individual decision of composition and colouring tasks — in abstract manner, it was full of personalities and experience. In theses series the artist shows the storm of emotions, tension, which comes from the inner power. Abstract language gives Eugene Segal the opportunity to make experiments with the color, facture, examine and shuffle sense variants. He attacks with the color, plays with light, e doesn't control his emotions and impresses us with the strength of his expression. These works are full of mystical imagination, fragments of his dreams.
