Art-is not only the game of imagination or pleasant pastime but it is first of all the act of art for creating of which three components are needed — individuality, nature and tradition. These components dominate in the art of well-known Kharkiv artist Eugene Segal — intelligent, changeable artist who isn't tired of cognition of the world and to find his place there every time.
Eugene Segal is interested in many art directions but the most favourite is impressionism with its airy, subtle paints, illusions of air motion, which create the definite mood of the viewer. In vibrations of painter's dashes is felt the fascinating spell. Under his pencil appears mist, shrouding our impression, sometimes calming down by its gentle color or sunny, rainbow colors. Such impressions we get from the series «World of Small People». We are acknowledged with the world through the power which it gives to us. «World of Small People» - is the vivid impression of the childhood which can be fixed by the painting technique and to transmit the thin feeling gradation and color splashes of this world. In such pictures as «Boy with Apple», «Boy at the Bicycle» the artist not only examines the topic but also picturesque situation which can not be separated from childish happy things and routine.

From cavas to canvas the artist writes his own story which is mixed with mosaics of impressions, flashes of the memories, changeable occasions, which gather together in a special art space. The paintings of Eugene Segal are the immediate respond to some impulse where the beauty of the world transfers to the beauty at the canvas. So the impression from trip to Turkey which ran through the olive groves, cliffs, fantastic landscapes and architecture constructions of mosques gave a birth to the series of paintings devoted to vivid impressions of the Orient. For example, the series «Istanbul» is not only the expression of some definite objects, but also a bright impression from them: the smell of Oriental spices is felt, loud life of Turkish market, juicy, full of colorite of every day's life and idle fuss of Istanbul.
